I was really excited to watch this one. That being said, I was a little bummed out to learn that the version I found didn’t have subtitles. But, between context clues and an online synopsis, the story I got from it was more multi-faceted than what I expected it to ever be. It’s easy to write this off as a crime/drama but there’s romance in it, not to mention murders that could have easily been in modern gore films. There’s grit, a story of family values, and the great internal struggle between doing what’s right and doing what’s just. This movie will always be a classic and for good reason. Once this year’s list is done this will definitely be one I go back to find the subtitles on.
