This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. If you’re religious and easily offended, this is definitely not for you. However, if you’re open-minded at all, I highly recommend giving Dogma a watch. The whole movie is a masterpiece. The casting, from the legendary Alan Rickman and George Carlin to the cult heroes, Jay and Silent Bob, every person played their role with conviction and an honesty that made you love the horny ignorance of Jay while you loathed every bit of Ben Affleck’s existence. The morals and ideas that float around under the surface of this satire really touch home to people who have lost faith or who are just non-religious altogether. For people of faith, if you can get past the constant roasting of religion and the toilet humor, there are a lot of interesting ideas about women’s role in writing and being in the Bible. There’s really something for everyone to take from this film if you can stop laughing long enough to hear the message. This has been my favorite new movie so far.
